ROCKPORT — Rockland’s own Rock Coast Rollers roller derby league hosts the 5th annual Coastal Chaos roller derby tournament, April 26, 27, and 28, at the Midcoast Recreation Center, in Rockport.

This Women's Flat Track Derby Association-recognized tournament is the only one of its kind in the state of Maine, according to Rock Coast Rollers, in a news release.

Eight teams from the Northeastern United States and Canada will compete for the Lighthouse Trophy.

For the second year in a row, a junior roller derby exposition game is scheduled for Saturday.

“Junior roller derby skaters are between the ages of 7 and 17, and these young athletes are truly amazing to watch,” said the Rollers, in a news release.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per day, with free admission for kids ages 12 and under. This year the Rock Coast Rollers will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Belmont Fire and Rescue and New Hope for Women.

Refreshments will be available from Rocket Fuel, Creamed Baking Co., Deirdre’s Cafe, and more.

Purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a round trip flight voucher courtesy of Elite Airways, or movie passes for Flagship Cinemas.

The Rock Coast Rollers are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Rockland that empowers women in the community to be strong, healthy, and confident through the sport of roller derby.
