The John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, will open its doors to the public from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 17 for its annual craft fair, bake sale and soup luncheon.  As folks arrive, they may warm up with coffee and donuts before they start visiting the 17 tables, including several vendors offering wares for the first time at this location.

Among the selections, shoppers will find ribbon art, fingerless gloves, casserole and mug “cozies” and pressed flower art.  Coastal Opportunities will be marketing their attractive and durable hand-made purses and bags, featuring weaving by participants in the Coastal Opportunities programs.  Shopping for babies? There will be handcrafted baby blankets as well as clothing and carriers for babies.  Puppets will be featured along with wood carvings and walking sticks.   Other vendors will have note-cards, soaps and pottery displayed.

The outreach program of the church has a table labeled: “Gifts Galore: BIG and small.”  Shoppers may select from a variety of items to gift at Christmas time, or any time.

In addition, this year the church will offer shoppers something different: an assortment of very unusual hand-made floral arrangements that would add an elegant touch to holiday decorating.  These will be on display and sold by silent auction throughout the day, with the winners contacted after 2 pm.

While vendors are tending their tables, down the hall is the always popular sale of yummy home baked breads, pies, cookies, cakes and other goodies.

At lunch time, a soup luncheon will be served: corn chowder or veggie stew with bread and beverage plus cookies.
