UMA Rockland's forum on "Careers in Computing and IT" was an excellent discussion among employers, faculty and interested students on the growing and lucrative field of computer technology. Many myths about what it takes to get started and what skills are needed were challenged.

Special guest panelists included Kelly Samson-Rickert, Director of Workforce Development for the State of Maine, Carrie Murphy, Recruiting Manager for Athena Health, Olivia Seibel, Officer in Governance and Security at Camden National Bank (and a UMA Rockland CIS graduate!), faculty Henry Felch and Mark Goodridge and moderator, Jason Judd, Program Director for Project Login.

As one participant said at the close of the discussion, "This really opened my eyes to the career and jobs potential within computer technology. Many different types of people with many different skills can be successful."
