Eight URock Students Head Off for Spring Break Travel Course to the Yucatan

Sat, 03/16/2019 - 1:45pm

Eight students enrolled at UMA Rockland are traveling to the Yucatan from March  14 - 23 as part of a university travel course for college credit.

This nine credit integrated online/onsite/travel course module is giving these students an opportunity to study three disciplines, each with a lens on the Yucatan and Latin America. Faculty use the Yucatan as a case study, integrating humanities, photography, and literature with a study trip to Valladolid.

The integrated curriculum includes:

Art 109 - Photographic Design and Digital Discovery

HUM 389 - Special Topics: Beyond Borders: The Yucatan

ENG 375 - Contemporary Latin American Literature

These courses satisfy art, humanities and English electives in any degree program giving students an opportunity to satisfy general education requirements in an adventurous way.

Integrated travel courses have become a reliable spring semester option at the University of Maine at Augusta Rockland Center.
