I just read the article in the Bangor Daily News about a Bar Harbor nursing home closing. Which will displace more than 50 residents?
I was wondering how many nursing homes have closed in Maine in 2018. According to the Ombudsman Program, 6 nursing homes closed last year. One each in Jonesport, Patten, West Paris, Fryeburg, Bridgton, and Freeport. That adds up to a lot of people needing a new place to live. I believe this situation can be very catastrophic for some of these people who have no home to go to. Can you imagine a loved one, who has lived at the same place for several years, given 30-60 days to find a new place to live?
Maine has the oldest population in the nation and fewer nursing homes every year. Private Home Care, Inc. works with people so they can stay safely at home. Private Home Care offers 3 hours to 24-hour coverage depending on what people need to stay in their home. Sometimes children with parents living with them need someone to cover while they are working.
