Its that time of year again! The air has a chill to it, the leaves start to change color and fall to the ground. With the change in weather comes the flu virus and colds that just won’t quit. According to the CDC last winter was the worse flu season in the past 5 years with 82 deaths and over 9,000 confirmed cases in Maine! Over all influenza killed 80,000 people in the 2017-2018 season.  The CDC urges everyone to receive the flu vaccine, especially children and senior citizens. For the elder population with chronic health issues the flu vaccine can be a life saving vaccine according to the center for disease control.
Predicting what the upcoming flu season will hold being almost impossible we are urged to vaccinate our children, family and our self’s. The CDC also recommends that people who are 65 and older receive the flu shot and not the nasal spray due to the effectiveness of the shot. Everyone has an option on vaccines and we hope that this blog helps answer some of those questions!
