Youth Football Underway in Midcoast

Wed, 08/26/2015 - 11:00am

CAMDEN – Five Town Football's season opening doubleheader takes place this Saturday, August 29. Starting with the third and fourth grade Junior Varsity Jammers kicking off against Medomak's Panthers at 10 a.m. at the Camden Snow Bowl.  That will be followed by the fifth and sixth grade Varsity Jammers facing their Medomak counterparts. Kickoff for the 2nd game will occur at approximately 11:45 a.m.

A solid core of players that were part of the 2013 undefeated JV Jammer squad headlines the Varsity team, lead by Coach Joe Russillo in his eighth year as a youth football head coach.  Kenny Johndro takes the reigns for the smaller Jammers, which still includes two players from the same undefeated squad that won the inaugural Coastal Youth Football League campaign (CYFL) at the JV level.  Coach Johndro lead the Middle School FTF Jammers to a robust 6-2 record in 2014.

FTF congratulates Medomak on the growth of their football program that has led to the establishment of their first high school team this season.  The goal of the CYFL was to bring the teams of the Five Towns, Medomak, Rockland, Boothbay and Lincoln County into a collaborative and supportive youth sports culture.  Heading into its third season competition and sportsmanship is at the crux of the CYFL existence.

Full concessions will be available this Saturday, including hamburgers and hot dogs, drinks, and treats for the kids.  We hope to have you come and join us.

Five Town Football is comprised of area youth from Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton and Lincolnville and is a non-profit organization dependent on volunteerism and fundraising to promoting the sportsmanship, physical fitness and health of our community kids.  FTF celebrates its 10th anniversary this season.
