SWANVILLE — A Kenduskeag woman was seriously injured after flipping her motorcycle July 10.

Cindy Smith, 45, was traveling on Swan Lake Avenue when another vehicle pulled out ahead of her, according to Chief Deputy Jason Trundy, of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Smith’s 2016 Harley Davidson went into a skid when she attempted to brake, causing the motorcycle to flip onto the right side. Smith was thrown from the bike, sustaining a non life threatening head injury.

She was first transported to Waldo County General Hospital via ambulance, then taken by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) for treatment.

As of July 19, EMMC representatives were unable to confirm or deny whether Smith has been released.

This is the second serious motorcycle crash on Swan Lake Avenue in the last four weeks, with another woman sustaining serious head injuries after flipping her motorcycle June 22.

That accident was also the result of a skid and also required transportation by LifeFlight to EMMC; she has since been released.
