Camden — A Colorado woman who was arrested in April for theft after spending the night at a Camden inn and not paying, was arrested twice May 19 for the same offense.

Leith Lende, 61, of Durango, Colorado, was arrested by Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick and charged with theft of services for writing a bad check for an overnight stay at the Norumbega Inn in Camden.

That evening, May 19, at 7:45 p.m., Sgt. Dan Brown responded to a theft of services complaint at Cuzzy’s Restaurant on Bay View Street where a woman had left the restaurant without paying her bill. Brown located Lende on the Camden Public Landing after receiving a description of the suspect from the restaurant’s manager. Lende admitted to police that she ate at Cuzzy’s and did not pay for her meal, according to the police report.

Police also charged Lende for violating her conditions of release from two previous arrests since she returned to certain places in Camden and was not checking in with Camden police, according to the court document.

Lende was again transported to the Knox County Jail following her second arrest May 19. She pleaded not guilty to the charges at her initial court appearance May 20 in Knox County Unified Court and was released on $400 cash bail.

The Rockport Police Department is also assisting in the investigation and additional charges are expected to be filed against Lende, said Andrick.

Lende will appear in court again on June 30 for a dispositional conference.
