ROCKLAND — A Warren man who allegedly threatened to burn down his home made his initial court appearance Nov. 28 in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.

Daniel Wentworth, 45, was arrested Nov. 23 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office for domestic violence criminal threatening, with priors, and disorderly conduct.

Judge Susan Sparaco set Wentworth’s bail at $2,500 and $50,000 surety bail of his home in Warren.

According to the police affidavit filed in court, police responded to a disturbance at Wottons Mill Road where Wentworth was living with his brother and his girlfriend.

The brother told police that Wentworth had allegedly threatened to burn down the house and kill them both along with their cat. He said that Wentworth was walking around the house with a gasoline can full of kerosene and lighter while saying that he was going to burn down the house.

Police noted in their report that Wentworth was intoxicated.

Wentworth told police that he might have said that he was going to burn down the house, but did not mean he would do it with people inside, according to the court document.

Police transported Wentworth to the Knox County Jail where he remained without bail until his initial court appearance Nov. 28

Wentworth will appear in court again on March 16 for a dispositional conference. He is applying for a court appointed attorney.
