ROCKLAND — A Warren man accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy remains in the Knox County Jail on $25,000 cash bail after his initial appearance Oct. 24 in Knox County Unified Court in Rockland.

Brendan Gray, 19, was arrested by Knox County Sheriff’s Detective Justin Twitchell Oct. 22 and charged with two counts of gross sexual assault, a class A felony, and violating a condition of release.

According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s office, the father of the victim called the Thomaston Police department when his son told him he had been sexually assaulted. Sgt. Tim Hoppe spoke with the father and then contacted Twitchell when he learned that the alleged assault occurred in Warren.

Twitchell interviewed the victim’s parents who said their son had described sexual encounters with Gray. The detective also interviewed the victim who confirmed the alleged sexual contact on two different occasions.

The affidavit further states that when Twitchell questioned Gray about the incidents, he admitted to having sexual contact with the victim.

Twitchell arrested Gray and transported him to Knox County Jail.

At the time of his arrest, Gray was currently free on bail after he pleaded guilty in July to a domestic violence assault charge. He then entered into a deferred disposition agreement for 12 months that included he could not commit another criminal act during that time period.

After Gray was arrested for the alleged sexual assault, the state filed a motion to revoke his bail under the deferred disposition agreement since he violated a condition of release.

Judge Susan Sparaco approved the state’s motion and set Gray’s bail at $25,000 cash.

Gray will make his next court appearance in Feb. 2017.
