Waldoboro Police beat: Stolen kayak, terrorizing, smashed car windows

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 153 calls for service from June 14-20. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    June 14 

    Leana Hendrickson, 28, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Jeffery Fuller for criminal mischief. 

    Leana Hendrickson, 28, of Waldoboro was arrested by Officer Thomas Bartunek for terrorizing with a dangerous weapon. 

    June 15       

    Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on the Old Augusta/Washington Rd intersection at 10:17 a.m. Linda Backus, 59, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2008 Hyundai sedan. Jessica Benson, 30, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Nissan sedan. Backus was traveling west on Old Augusta Road, stopped at the intersection stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection, failing to yield to Benson who was traveling south on Washington Road. Injuries were reported. 

    Spear is investigating a report from a citizen that he had a kayak and a birch canoe stolen. 

    June 16                    

    Sergeant Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on Winslows Mills Road, at 4:58 p.m. Kimberly Holmes, 40, of Waldoboro, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet sedan. Theresa Dube, 48, of East Winthrop, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Holmes was traveling southbound on Winslows Mills Road and stopped for a red light on Winslows Mills Road at the intersection of Atlantic Highway. Holmes came up behind Dube and skid into the rear of her vehicle, causing damage to both vehicles. Holmes stated her brakes did not work properly when she tried to stop. 

    June 17     

    Andrew Brages, 38, of Saco, was issued a summons by Fuller for operating after suspension. 

    Scott Ellwell, 52, of South Thomaston, was issued a summons by Spear for operator consuming alcohol in motor vehicle on public way. 

    Michael Starr, 31, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek for refusing to submit to arrest/detention and aggravated criminal mischief. 

    June 18                       

    Fuller is investigating a report from a resident that a vehicle he has parked for sale had the windows smashed out. 

    June 19        

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of criminal mischief to his residence windows. 

    Derick Winslow, 26, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Wilson for two violations of a protective order. 

    June 20                       

    A 16-year-old male, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer John Lash for theft. 

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of criminal mischief to the mirror on his truck.
