Waldoboro Police beat: Stolen four wheeler, accidents, arrest warrant

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 136 calls for service from March 6-14. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    March 3 retraction 

    Waldoboro police issued a retraction from a previous post dated March 3: Douglas Davis 27, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Sgt. Jamie Wilson for operating after suspension.  

    March 8                     

    Stephen Benner, 29, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Thomas Bartunek for a violation of conditional release. 

    March 9 

    Daniel McKechnie, 27, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Andrew Santheson on a warrant.                                   

    Santheson is investigating a report from a citizen who told police that someone broke into his son’s trailer and stole his four wheeler. 

    March 10    

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident at the Winslows Mills Rd/Cross Rd intersection at 11:05 p.m. Dale Hodgkins, 38, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Hodgkins was southbound following the roadway, lost control and struck a pole on the opposite side of the road. No injuries were reported.  

    March 13                   

    Tristan Whitcomb, 19, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Officer Larry Hesseltine for speeding 30 plus miles over the speed limit.                                    

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Union Road at 3:20 a.m. Darren Cox, 48, of Warren, was driving a 2015 Ford van. Cox was traveling southbound following the roadway. He struck a deer that ran out into the roadway. No injuries were reported. 

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that she is being harassed. 

    March 14   

    Matthew Leigh, 20, of Washington, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant.
