Waldoboro Police beat: Sap buckets taken from trees, stolen license plates

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 101 calls for service from March 14-20. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

    March 14

    Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated a complaint from a citizen that she is receiving harassing text messages. Subject was found and warned on harassment.

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 12:40 p.m. Shelbe Lane, 19, of Union, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet sedan. Lane was traveling westbound following the roadway, lost control due to road conditions and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported. 

    March 15 

    A 15-year-old male juvenile, of Warren, was issued a summons by Officer Chris Spear for assault. 

    March 16                 

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen that someone stole a dozen sap buckets off his trees.

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Union Road at 8:30 a.m. Charles Griffin, 40, of Warren, was driving a 2011 Peterbilt truck. Virgil Cray, 45, of Warren, was driving a 1993 GMC pickup truck. Griffin was traveling northbound following the roadway. Cray was traveling westbound skidding and drove too fast for conditions and failed to yield right of way onto Union Rd. No injuries were reported. 

    March 17 

    Virgil Cray, 45, of Warren, was arrested by Hesseltine for aggravated assault and aggravated criminal trespass. 

    March 18 

    Sgt. Jamie Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of his front license plate. 

    March 19 

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of a license plate that was used on the turnpike. 

    March 20                 

    Brandi Griffin, 31, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Raymond Robbins on a warrant.
