Waldoboro Police beat: OUI, attaching false plates, accidents

    WALDOBORO - Waldoboro police responded to 91 calls for service from Sept. 6-12. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    Sept. 6                       

    Officer Thomas Bartunek is investigating a report from Maritime Farms of a $24.31 gasoline drive off. 

    Sept. 9         

    Amanda Carter, 33, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Officer Larry Hesseltine on a warrant.                       

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 3:45 p.m. Cameron Robinson, 17, of Waldoboro, was driving a Saab sedan. Chelsea Burnham, 25, of Tenants Harbor, was driving a Chevrolet sedan. Robinson was traveling was eastbound and stopped in traffic. Burnham was traveling eastbound, following the roadway and operating in an erratic reckless, careless, negligent or aggressive manner and ran into the back of Robinson’s vehicle. Injuries were reported for Burnham. 

    James Frank, 63, of Washington, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for speeding. 

    Sept. 10      

    Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 7:44 a.m. Camden Jadis, 26, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2004 Volvo sedan. Michael Leonard, 73, of Bremen, was driving a 2010 Honda sedan. Jadis struck Leonard in the rear as Leonard’s vehicle was making a left turn into a parking lot. No injuries were reported. 

    Sept. 11 

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that someone damaged screens and windows in his cabin.  

    Nathan Riley, 25, of Nobleboro, was charged by Officer John Lash for operating under the influence and attaching false plates. 

    Sept. 12                       

    Lash is investigating a complaint from a citizen of criminal trespassing on his property.                       

    Fuller investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 10:55 a.m. Robert Barter, 41, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2016 Dodge pickup truck. Ann Heywood, 64, of East Bridgewater, Mass., was driving a 2009 Volvo sedan. Barter was following Heywood’s vehicle  too closely and struck Heywood’s vehicle when it came to a stop on the Atlantic Highway. No injuries were reported.  

    Fuller investigated a report from a citizen of the theft of some medication.
