Waldoboro police beat: chicken flock theft, traffic violations

    WALDOBORO – Waldoboro police reported the following activity, April 14-22. Waldoboro officers responded to 162 calls for service in this time period. Below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

    April 14
    Officer John Lash is investigating a report of threatened.
    Officer Thomas Bartunek summonsed Earl Libby, 25, of Newcastle, for uninspected motor vehicle and expired insurance.

    April 15
    Bartunek is investigating a report of the theft of a chicken flock.

    April 16
    Bartunek investigated an accident at the Atlantic Highway, Depot Street and Jefferson Street intersection at 4:38 p.m.  Christena Dow, 35, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2000 Jeep utility vehicle. Krystal Gamage, 32, of Thomaston, was driving a 2009 Nissan utility vehicle.  Dow had stopped at intersection of Atlantic Highway and Depot Street. Gamage was traveling south on the Atlantic Highway. Dow was attempting to cross the Atlantic Highway and failed to see Gamage, subsequently striking the driver’s side of Dow’s car. There were no injuries. Bartunek issued a summons to Dow for failure to show proof of insurance.

    April 18
    Bartunek summonsed Nicholas Hatch, 24, of Waldoboro, for uninspected motor vehicle.
    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from the Maritime Farms of the theft of $21 worth of kerosene.

    April 19
    Fuller is investigating a report of criminal mischief to the ball field at Medomak Valley High School.
    Bartunek is investigating a report from the Big Apple of a $28 gasoline drive-off.
