Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, stolen car change

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 164 calls for service from Jan. 30-Feb.6. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    Jan. 30

    Officer Larry Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 11:30 a.m. Tammy Luce-Warren, 44, of Union, was driving a 2003 Ford utility vehicle with two passengers. Luce-Warren was traveling westbound following the roadway, driving too fast for conditions, lost control of her vehicle and spun out of control. The operator left the roadway, hit a snowbank and rolled over. Injuries were reported for the driver and two passengers. 

    Hesseltine investigated an accident at the intersection of Main Street and Old Route 1 at 3:00 p.m. Daniel Larsen-Sorterup, 18, of Waldoboro, was traveling westbound on Old Route 1, following the roadway, driving too fast for the conditions, and went through the intersection and struck a residence. 

    Jan. 31        

    Luke Wooster, 42, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine and Thomas Bartunek for violation of conditional release. Hesseltine investigated an accident on Depot Street at 10 a.m. Daniel Willey, 24, of Friendship, was driving a 2016 Ford sedan. He was traveling southbound following the roadway, driving too fast for the conditions, went off the road striking a utility pole guide wire, damaging stone garden/landscaping rocks belonging to Brian Kniesner. No injuries were reported.

    Daniel Willey, 24, of Friendship, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for failure to make oral or written accident report, leaving the scene of an accident, operating after suspension, and violation of conditional release. 

    Feb. 2                                                 

    Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 11:12 a.m. Justin Hawes, 20, of Union, was driving a 2001 Toyota utility vehicle. Travis Carpenter, 28, of Rockport, was driving a 2010 International medium/heavy truck. James Smith, 46, of Jonesport, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet light truck. Hawes was traveling northbound following the roadway, hit the rear of Carpenter’s vehicle, also traveling northbound, making a left turn into a business. Hawes spun around and entered the southbound lane, hitting Smith’s vehicle who was following the roadway, traveling southbound.  

    Feb. 4          

    Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen that someone stole approximately $10 worth of change from her vehicle. 

    Joseph Boardman, 31, of Waldoboro, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for attaching false plates and failure to maintain vehicle insurance. 

    Hesseltine investigated an accident on the Washington Road at 10:15 a.m. Mallory Nickels-Blastow, 21, of Thomaston, was driving a 2004 Dodge utility vehicle. She was traveling northbound following the roadway, swerved to avoid something, and due to the wind and road surface, lost control and went off the roadway, rolling over, landing upright. No injuries were reported.
