Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, stolen boat cradle, arrest warrant

    WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 311 calls for service from April 24-May 7. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. 

    April 25                                            

    Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on Depot Street at 12:06 a.m. Alan Blackington, 43, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2000 Toyota pickup truck. He was traveling northbound, following the roadway and ran off the side of the road, striking a CMP pole. No injuries were reported. 

    April 28    

    Officer Jeffery Fuller is investigating a report from the Big Apple of a $10 gasoline drive off. 

    May 1        

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen of a stolen boat cradle.

    May 2     

    Kenneth St. Pierre, 31, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Bartunek on a warrant.

    May 3

    Officer Andrew Santheson investigated an accident on Jefferson Street at 10:28 a.m. Corydan Hawkes, 42, of Harspwell, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck. Carol Gammon, 62, of Warren, was driving a 2007 Toyota sedan. Hawkes was backing up a gravel hill to exit a business.  Gammon was parked legally at the top of the hill in a small parking area. Gammon was not in her vehicle. Hawkes backed to the right and failed to avoid the other vehicle. No injuries were reported.                 

    Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen that someone broke his window. 

    May 4                                                

    Wilson investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 7:50 p.m. C. Dale Flint, 63, of Union, was driving a 2015 Ford sedan. Flint was traveling northbound on Atlantic Highway. A deer ran into the roadway and struck the vehicle in The front driver’s side corner. No injuries were reported.

    May 5 

    Wilson is investigating a report from a citizen that someone damaged her grill and picnic table.

    Wilson investigated an accident on Old Route 1, at 4:10 p.m. Lavonne Beal, 80, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2004 Pontiac sedan. Beal was pulling into a parking space at Coles Hills Apartment. She accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and hit a small steel table, outdoor gas grill and steel lamp post. The operator tried to contact property owners of the above items. She came in to the police station the next day to report the accident. No injuries were reported. 

    May 6                                                

    Fuller is investigating a report from a citizen that his medication had been stolen.             

    Fuller investigated an accident on Depot Street at 2:36 p.m. Nicholas Deschesne 18, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet sedan. Deschesne fell asleep, went off the roadway, striking a power pole guide wire, a shrub and a lawn embankment before coming to rest. No injuries were reported.
