Waldoboro inaugurates its Town Forest Trail

Tue, 07/04/2017 - 8:30am

Waldoboro Town Forest Trail was officially opened by Jann Minzy and Edward Fisher July. There are future plans for a kiosk and trail maps. The trail, passing through an ancient hemlock forest, is an important site for hiking and cross-country skiing.

According to Commission member Edward Fisher: “The trail is still a work in progress: we need to maintain some of the wet spots, and consider what to do with the tire city left some years ago. But we want our residents and their pets to start using the trail and enjoying the hemlock grove”.

The trailhead is at the west end of the commuter parking lot at the top of the Route 1 Hill heading south toward Damariscotta.
