Waldo County Sheriff’s beat: Distracted driving crash, insurance violations

    BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department reported the following activity May 14-18. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    May 14

    Deputy Darrin Moody responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on South Main Street in Winterport. A female juvenile was following too closely when she reportedly looked down to retrieve her iced coffee. When she looked back at the road she struck the vehicle ahead of her. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The female juvenile was uninjured. One of two passengers in the second vehicle reported possible injury. 

    May 15

    Kenneth D. Brown, 54, of Belfast, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on High Street. 

    May 17

    Aaron P. Johnson, 38, of Searsmont, was issued a summons for an inspection sticker violation on Route 3 in Montville. 

    Stacy D. Emerton, 56, of Blue Hill, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Route 1 in Northport.
