BELFAST — The Waldo County Municipal Association will be hosting a candidates’ forum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center’s auditorium.

In attendance will be house and senate representatives and candidates from districts with at lease one town in Waldo County. Of the 15 candidates invited, 12 had confirmed as of Thursday morning according to the event moderator, Geoff Herman of Maine Municipal Association.

Herman said Karlton Ward (R-Holden) who is running in House District 131 (Prospect, Stockton Springs and five Hancock County town) was the only candidate who indicated he would not be able to attend. Several others had not responded.

“Sometimes people will just show up,” he said.

Herman said the forum will focus on municipal issues. Candidates will be invited to answer some scripted questions and will also field questions from audience members.

The event is open to the public.
