LINCOLNVILLE — Virginia Valentine Dyer, 78, died unexpectedly on Aug. 15, 2015, at her home, along with her husband, Eugene E. Dyer, when their home was destroyed by fire.

Born in Lincolnville on Feb. 14, 1936, she was the daughter of Lester and Laura (Hall) Pendleton. She attended school in Lincolnville and married Eugene E. Dyer on Sept. 13, 1951.

She grew up in Lincolnville. After marrying, she moved to Searsmont, where they raised their family and owned and operated Dyer's Boarding Home. In 1978, they moved to Lincolnville. She worked at Tibbetts Industries in Camden for many years, until she retired.

Ginny loved her family, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, working in her vegetable garden then harvesting and preserving what she had grown. She will be remembered for her sweet welcoming smile and loving nature. Ginny was always available with a listening ear and unconditional acceptance; free of judgments. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Seeing her grandbabies was her favorite pastime and greatest joy.

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Hope Harford; and brothers, Virgil and Kenneth Pendleton.

Surviving are her five children, Bruce Dyer and his wife, Nadine, of Lincolnville, Julie Harkins of Waldoboro, Joni Dyer, Sam Dyer, and Mike Dyer and his wife, Paula, all of Lincolnville; her grandchildren, Holly Thibodeau, Heidi Johnson, Jamie Fessenden, Courtney Farnum, Leif McClellan, Chevy McClellan, Rick McClellan, Karen Dyer, Brian Dyer, Benjamin Dyer, David Dyer and Elayni Harford; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Danny (Marilyn) Pendleton of Lincolnville, Clifford Pendleton of Thomaston, Wayne Pendleton of Camden, Warren (Sharon) Pendleton of Lincolnville, Loretta (Allen) Frontin of Florida, Anna (Sonny) Fields of Lincolnville, Jerry (Linda) Pendleton of Vermont, Cindy (Nevin) Carpentier of South Carolina and Lyndy (Edna) Pendleton of Lincolnville.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Point Lookout Pavilion in Northport. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Mountain View Cemetery in Camden.
