CAMDEN – On Saturday, Feb. 27 the Camden-Rockport wrestling team hosted a quad meet that featured some outstanding wrestling from two local teams as well as two other visiting teams.

Middle school wrestling started in mid-February and finishes in late March.

Local teams are encouraged to send their results to sports@penabaypilot.com to be included in the wrestling updates posted on the site. Local teams include Medomak, Oceanside, Camden, Mount View, HAL, and Belfast, all who wrestle in the Pine Tree League.

For Oceanside Saturday, they went 4-0 defeating Camden-Rockport 54-30; Winslow 45-36; Hancock Area Wrestling Club 54-24; and Ellsworth 58-12.

Individual results with the Mariners listed first are as follows.

75 pounds – Carter Fogerty pinned Ben Wilson (Camden) at 0:28; defeated Sammy Schmidtt (Winslow) 11-6; won by forfeit over Hancock and Ellsworth.

Thursday, Feb 25… The Oceanside Mariners traveled to Troy Howard Middle School where they went 1-1 on the evening with host Belfast and guest Mount View.

Team results from the meet were, Oceanside 47, Belfast 45 and Mount View 39, Oceanside 36 in what appears to be three very closely matched teams. Results between Troy Howard and Mount View were not reported.

Schooners go 3-1 in home meet Saturday, Feb. 28

The Camden-Rockport wrestling team hosted a quad meet Saturday with Oceanside, Hancock County, Winslow and Ellsworth were the young squad went 3-1. The Schooners beat Hancock 48-23, Ellsworth 57-18, and Winslow 48-36, while falling to Oceanside 54-30.

Camden-Rockport Wrestling – Feb. 26

This was a make up meet from Wednesday, Feb. 25 which was postponed due to weather closing the school yet again for a snow day. The meet was held at Medomak Valley with the Host Riverhawks and HAL (Hope, Appleton, Lincolnville). Results between HAL and Medomak (Medomak) were not reported.

Team results were Camden-Rockport lost to Medomak 72-24; and defeated HAL 48-26.

Camden-Rockport Wrestling - Feb. 21

The season opener Feb. 21 at Morse High School saw the Schooners find it difficult to compete with no eighth graders available for the matches.

“We have a very young team and had 10 grade five and six kids at this first meet with no grade eight kids.” said Camden-Rockport coach Aaron Henderson. “Last year we had seven eighth grade kids.  Kids wrestled well and did not give up and show great spirit.”

Team results were Bath 58, Camden-Rockport 23; Mt. Ararat 66, Camden-Rockport 18; Mountain Valley 76, Camden-Rockport 6; and Oxford Hills 54, Camden-Rockport 16.
