Heavy winds, rain, cause outages

UPDATED: CMP customers report widespread outages in Knox, Waldo counties

    Working diligently, crews from Central Maine Power had restored electricity by 8:50 a.m. to approximately two-thirds of the customers in Knox and Waldo Counties that were previously without power. According to the CMP website, 436 customers in Knox County and 436 customers in Waldo County remained without power at that time. In Waldo County, the largest concentration of outages was being reported in Lincolnville, where 332 homes remained without power. In Knox County, 140 homes in Rockport were still without power at 8:50 a.m.

    Following high winds and thunderstorms in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 25, firefighters in many Knox and Waldo County towns remain busy clearing roads of debris and assisting with downed power lines.

    As of 7:20 a.m., 1449 Central Maine Power customers in Knox County had reported power outages, according to the company’s website, 1451 customers in Waldo County were without power.

    Hope: 41

    Rockland: 108

    Rockport: 140

    St. George: 74

    Union: 97

    Washington: 738

    In Waldo County, outages by town are as follows:

    Belfast: 30

    Belmont: 14

    Frankfort: 3

    Liberty: 739

    Lincolnville: 332

    Montville: 249

    Morrill: 7

    Searsmont: 64

    Searsport: 13
