Camden and Rockport Police are investigating an early morning fatality following a motorcycle crash on Park Street in Camden.

A resident in the area reported hearing acceleration and a "banging" noise at approximately 1:10 a.m. the morning of October 2, 2017, police said.

The resident looked outside and did not see anything to cause concern. At approximately 5:20 a.m., a Camden resident out walking found a deceased male on a lawn at the intersection of Park Street and Harrison Avenue.

Police arrived on scene to find a male subject who appeared to have died from severe trauma caused by the impact of the crash.

The motorcyclist's name is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

Initial investigation revealed the operator was not wearing a helmet and did not have a license endorsement to operate a motorcycle, according to a news release from the Camden Police.

The accident remains under investigation by Camden Officer Chris Hansen and Rockport Sgt. James Moore.
