BELFAST — A Palermo man and a Burnham man were both arrested by Waldo County Sheriff's Office deputies in two separate domestic violence incidents last week.

One of the incidents occurred in Palermo on Aug. 27, when the Waldo County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance on Nelson Lane.

According to a Sheriff's Office press release, the caller reported being assaulted by Justin Hardesty, 30, of Palermo. Sgt. James Greeley and Deputy Kevin Littlefield responded to the scene, and learned that Hardesty and the victim had been involved in a verbal argument that turned physical.

During the altercation, Hardesty allegedly threw dinner plates at the victim, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the ribs. He also fled the home before deputies arrived.

The victim was transported by Delta Ambulance to the hospital and a K9 was requested to help search for Hardesty.

Maine State Police Trooper Bill Nagle responded to the scene with his K9, Draco, and they were able to track Hardesty and located him in a wooded area behind the residence.

Hardesty was arrested and charged with domestic assault, class D, and domestic criminal mischief, class D. After he was arrested, deputies found several types of prescription medication in his possession, and Hardesty was then also charged with unlawful possession of scheduled W drugs, class D, and possession of schedule Z drugs, Class E.

Hardesty posted $500 bail and was released from custody, according to Waldo County Sheriff's Lt. Jason Trundy, pending a future court date.

The second domestic disturbance in Waldo County occurred Aug. 29, just before 1 a.m., when a 911 call came in from a female on Perkins Road.

Deputies Dan Thompson and Kevin Littlefield responded, and during the investigation determined that Thomas Bubar, 30, of Burnham, had been arguing with a female victim when he then punched her in the face several times.

Bubar also allegedly threatened to "knock the victim out" if she called the police, according to the release.

Bubar was arrested and charged with domestic assault, class C, and domestic terrorizing, class D. Bubar was being held with no bail allowed, pending arraignment in court.
