Five Town CSD Adult and Community Education is offering several trips this school year.

Perfect for celebrating fall are Fryeburg Fair on Tuesday, October 4, and Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village with a stop at the Poland Springs Museum on Saturday, October 8.

Established in 1851, the Fryeburg Fair is considered one of the best agricultural fairs in the country. Animals, exhibits, flower shows, the Specialty Food Pavilion, Expo Center, arts and crafts, a farm museum and the best French fries made from just-harvested potatoes are just some of the highlights. In addition, Tuesday is free for visitors 65 and older. Registration is $60 and there will be pickups in Bath, Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, and Rockport beginning at 8 a.m.

The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Museum is located within the only active and functioning Shaker community in the world. See the Shaker world through their inventions, handcrafted items, and restored museum buildings. Join in the " Harvest Festival" celebration, featuring wagon rides, craft demonstrations of blacksmithing, wood turning, tin type photography, rug hooking, knitting, weaving, and spinning. Sample Shaker homemade apple fritters and purchase some freshly picked apples from the orchard for the ride home. A side trip will be made to the home of the Poland Springs Museum prior on the return trip. Registration is $40 including admission to the Shaker Museum and there will be pickups in Wiscasset, Damariscotta, and Waldoboro after leaving Rockport at 8 a.m.

Winter's beginning can be magical with a trip to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens "Gardens Aglow". The gardens will be spectacularly lit, the Cafe will be open, and the gift shop may just have that special something for the holidays. This trip is on Friday, December 2 and leaves Rockport at 5:00 PM so be sure to dress for the weather at this outdoor event. Registration is $40 including admission and there will be pickups in Wiscasset, Damariscotta, and Waldoboro after leaving Rockport at 5 p.m.

The spring offering this year will be a full day at Plimouth Plantation on Saturday, May 6. Join us as we travel back in time... where life is always in the 17th Century. See, hear, taste, and live a day in the 1600's, walk along the paths of the Wampanoag Home site, see the Mayflower II, visit the Plimouth Grist Mill, view the rare breeds animals, and watch as skilled craftsmen recreate the world of the 17th Century. You can even lunch in the Patuxet Cafe on food inspired by Wampanoag and English colonial traditions. Registration is $95 and includes admission to Plimouth Plantation. Pickups will be in Bath, Wiscasset, Damariscotta, and Waldoboro after leaving Rockport at 7 a.m.
