Tracy Lee Murphy announces Rockport Select Board candidacy

Sun, 05/29/2016 - 10:00am

I’m Tracy Lee Murphy and I’m running for re-election to the Rockport Select Board.

As a member of the Select Board for the past six years, I have done my best to represent all five of Rockport’s villages, studying up on the issues, and then presenting the people of Rockport with good options. Together we have made major decisions - like renovating the Rockport Opera House, expanding the West Rockport fire station, expanding sewer service in town; as well as decisions currently under discussion - like the future of the library, and of high-speed fiber optics in town.

The long-term viability of Rockport is extremely important to me and for that reason I have volunteered to work on many boards. For those of you who are not familiar with the civic work I have done for the Town of Rockport during the past 16 years, here are some examples: I was elected to the original Charter Commission and the Budget Committee. I was appointed to the Mid Coast Solid Waste Board of Directors, Planning Board, Board of Assessment Review, and the Ad hoc Library Planning committee. Many of the residents I’ve worked with are as passionate about this town as I am.

As a member of the Rockport Select Board I will continue to represent our community with honesty and integrity, as I have for the past six years.  I want our community be a place our children and grandchildren can work and live in, not just be a place they come to visit.

Thank you for your vote on June 14.

    P.S.

For those of you who do not like to see political signs or get flyers in the mail, I’m not spending money on either; instead I’m making donations to P.A.W.S. and the Camden Area Food Pantry.
