ROCKLAND — A Thomaston woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a crash Thursday, June 8, with a car at the intersection of Park Street and Broadway in Rockland, has died.

Edith Davis, 70, died this past weekend at Maine Medical Center in Portland, according to Rockland Deputy Police Chief Chris Young.

A hospital spokesperson at Maine Medical confirmed June 13 that Davis was listed in critical condition after she was transferred to the Portland facility from Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Davis was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Young said that the Rockland Police Department is in the process of completing a fatal accident investigation and once that is completed, the report will be turned over to the District Attorney for review.

The operator of the other vehicle involved in the crash, Leda B. Fox, 52, of Brooks, was not impaired, said Young.

According to the accident report from Rockland Police, Fox was driving a 2006 Hyundai Electra. As Fox was making a right-hand turn from Park Street onto Broadway, she did not see the motorcycle coming through the intersection. Walter Davis, 72, of Thomaston, was driving a 1989 Kawasaki motorcycle with Edith Davis as his passenger.

Fox struck the rear tire of the motorcycle causing it to roll over, said police. She did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

Walter and Edith Davis were both transported by Rockland EMS to Pen Bay Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, which was the initial report from the accident scene.
