Thomaston man accused of assaulting woman

    ROCKLAND — A Thomaston man remains at the Knox County jail as of Sept. 10, after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting and trying to strangle a woman.

    Nathaniel Massicotte, 33, made his initial court appearance in Knox County Unified Court Sept. 6. Judge Susan Sparaco set his bail at $10,000 cash.

    According to the affidavit filed in court by Thomaston police officer Thomas Hoepner, Massicotte was arrested while at work Sept. 4, the day after the alleged attack. He was charged with aggravated assault, obstructing the report of a crime and criminal mischief. The alleged attack occurred at the victim’s residence.

    The victim told police that during a verbal argument, Massicotte put his hands around her neck and she could not breathe. Police reported that she had a bruised lip and marks on her face and neck. She was treated at treated at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport for her injuries.

    Massicotte took the victim’s cell phone so she was not able to call police during the alleged attack, the report said. He also put his knee through a television in the living room, destroying it, according to police.

    He will appear in court again on Sept. 28.
