Thankfully, ‘moose’ is easier to say than ‘Passagassawaukeag’

BELFAST — Motorists heading to work and crossing the bridge over the Passagassawaukeag River that connects Belfast and East Belfast encountered a Maine icon crossing with them - a moose. Most often, moose will swim from shore to shore, but this moose apparently decided to try a different, albeit congested route, but with a whole new view on the world around it.

Standing head and shoulders above the passenger cars trying to get by, or waiting for it to move, while stopped in line Belmont resident Kyle Bradford snapped a couple of photos as he attempted to cross the bridge from the Belfast side.

“I was headed toward Searsport, and I was able to get around it after the moose walked past me a couple of minutes later,” said Bradford.

The last he saw the moose, in his rear view mirror, it was making its way toward Belfast, hopefully to some safer ground.
