Not how I pictured this day

Tailgate mishap slows Main Street Rockland traffic

ROCKLAND — Layers of crushed stone outside the ferry terminal entrance on Rockland’s Main Street created an appearance of far-reaching beach erosion around 3 p.m. Thursday. The crushed rock hit the ground after the tailgate of a JBI dump truck gave way.

No injuries or damage was reported.

Most of the rocks spilled into one area, forcing northbound commuter traffic into one lane, though a trail of loose rocks could be followed as far north as Burger King at Maverick Street.

Rockland Police Officer John Bagley directed traffic while two JBI workers shoveled the rocks into a different company vehicle. Rockland Public Works and a member of the Maine Department of Transportation also visited the scene.

One worker said to another, “Not how you pictured your day, is it?”

    No.
