St. George appoints new town manager

    ST. GEORGE – On April 18, the Select Board of the Town of St. George announced that Brandon Leppanen had been selected as new Town Manager.
     
    Leppanen was born and raised in St. George and was most recently program dDirector at Trekkers, a nonprofit organization based in Rockland.
     
    Van Thompson, Select Board Chair, said that there were 34 applicants for the position and after numerous interviews, Brandon was selected.
     
    “The Select Board and current Town Manager were impressed by the depth of his experience at Trekkers,” the town said, in a news release. “Brandon’s commitment to advancing that program through training and leadership was noted by the Board. His interpersonal skills and poise were evident at each interview. The Board was pleased to find someone with these talents who is also from St George.”
     
    Per the standard contract, his performance as town manager will be reviewed at six months and yearly thereafter.
     
    “It’s an honor to be selected as the next Town Manager of St. George,” said Leppanen.
     
    He added that he feels fortunate to have grown up in the town and is eager to ensure that current and future residents of St. George feel the same way. “Building relationships and community have been at the core of my career up to this point and I look forward to carrying those values into this next chapter.”
     
    Brandon will take the place of Rick Erb, who will be retiring when his contract with St. George concludes on June 30. They will be working together during the next two months to ensure a smooth transition, the town said.
