NORTHPORT — This weekend ushers in the sixth annual Art-Full Gifts Show at Point Lookout in Northport, with three days showcasing a broad spectrum of Maine-made crafts, art and fine food gifts.

Featuring the works of 50 select exhibitors, the show also includes free demonstrations, Maine-made foods and live music, all in an easy-to-find venue with a commanding view of Penobscot Bay.

This year's show takes place from Friday evening, Nov. 21, through Sunday afternoon, Nov. 23. Point Lookout Resort is located off Route 1, near the Lincolnville and Northport town line, with plenty of free parking just a few steps from the show.

A Gala Preview Party opens the show Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., kicking off the weekend with the first opportunity to view the exhibitors' full array of offerings. There will be complimentary nibbles from local food purveyors, a cash bar and live jazz by well-known local musician Phil Clement.

The show continues Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission - $10 Friday, $3 Saturday and Sunday - benefits Coastal Mountains Land Trust.

Art-Full Gifts welcomes show-goers with a crackling fire in a huge stone fireplace, setting the mood for discovering the creations of 50 talented Maine artists and artisans. The exhibitors offer silver, gold, and mixed jewelry; clothing and accessories of natural fiber; oil and watercolor paintings; limited-edition prints and cards; carved and sculpted wood; ceramics; bath and body products; mixed-media sculpture; felt hats, leather bags and other accessories; home furnishings; pottery; and artisan foods such as fine chocolates, among others.

"Many exhibitors say they happily welcome back customers who return every year with gift lists in hand," said Randy Fein, the show's executive director.

Fein said this year's show will feature a good blend of perennially popular exhibitors, with some newcomers adding to the mix. She suggests show-goers also take time to drive or hike to the top of the mountain for a panoramic view of the bay.

A strong advocate for Coastal Mountains Land Trust, Fein serves as the summer steward for Fernald's Neck Preserve, one of the locations protected by the conservation group.

"CMLT provides opportunities for the public to access and explore natural places in our community. I believe everyone benefits emotionally, spiritually, and physically from unlimited access to these pristine natural habitats. I am so proud that our event's admissions assist the mission of CMLT," said Fein

A number of crafting demonstrations will add an educational dimension to the weekend. On Saturday, the producers of Rose and Rugosa products will show how they prepare dulse seaweed for use in their bath and beauty products. On both Saturday and Sunday, Sally Demeter will demonstrate "temari," the 1,000-year-old Japanese art of making colorful thread balls for use as holiday decorations and Candace Hill will be demonstrating how she makes her felted hats.

On Sunday, a group of fiber artists will hand-spin fleece into finished yarn, and Sandy Cirillo will show how to paint on silk to create stunning scarves.
