Six arrested in Augusta drug bust

    AUGUSTA —Six people have been arrested in Augusta in connection with the alleged sale of heroin and crack cocaine from two Augusta homes. The drugs were purchased by undercover drug agents and the investigation has been ongoing for several months, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

    Late Friday afternoon, Feb. 20, Maine Drug Enforcement agents, Augusta and State Police, the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration searched two homes on Mayflower Road and Second Avenue. Approximately 14 grams of crack cocaine and 1.5 grams of heroin, along with other evidence of drug trafficking, was seized during the searches, the release said.

    The following were charged:

    Rahiem Brent, 31, of New York, N.Y.; charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs. This charge was aggravated due to a prior drug felony conviction. Bail was set at $50,000 cash.

    Kathy Tupper, 50, of Augusta, charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs. This charge was aggravated due to a prior drug felony. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.

    Eric Anderson, 44, of Augusta, charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs. (no bail set).

    Nancy Rodriques, 18, of Augusta, Class B Trafficking in Schedule W drugs. Bail set at $5,000.

    Dominique Kirk, 27, of Augusta, charged with Violations of Conditions of Release (no bail).

    Josh Carey, 41, of Augusta. Violation of Probation (no bail).

    The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely, the release said.
