BELFAST – Waldo County businesses and individuals are joining the push for single payer health care with donations to Maine AllCare’s spring launch party to be held on Saturday, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Belfast Boathouse. The event is free and the public is warmly invited.

The Belfast Bay Fiddlers will be performing, followed by a “Health Care Jeopardy” game show and a short movie about universal health care.

Whitecap Builders has stepped forward as a major donor to the event and Easterly Wine, Caitlin Hills, Old Professor’s Bookshop and Verizon Belfast are contributing. CupKates of Maine, Downeast Curry Company, Eat More Cheese, and Dean Anderson of the UU Church of Belfast are preparing treats for the table. Coastal Tide Dyes, Dan Bennett Jewelry, Vinolio of Belfast, The Green Store, Mac's True Value, Gardiner's Honey, and Meanwhile in Belfast have provided prizes for the “Health Care Jeopardy” game.

Those individuals or businesses wanting to volunteer time or contribute money to the cause, donate treats for the table or prizes for the game, are encouraged to contact Jennifer Hill at rooted@fairpoint.net for more information on how to do so.
