Varsity Boys Soccer: Camden Hills 2, Lewiston 2
(By Ryan Hurley)

Abdi Hersi and Mukhtar Ali put Lewiston ahead 2-0 in the first half of action Friday. The Windjammers would storm back with a gutsy performance in the second half as Bryce Tyler slid Quinn Brown a beautiful ball at the top of the 18 at the 21:12 mark. Brown took care of the rest, evading a defender and the goalkeeper with a well placed shot.

With time winding down and the 'Jammers pressing hard, senior Will Nickerson would unleash a rocket from 20 yards that knuckled and swerved into the top left corner of the goal.

Two five minute overtimes weren't enough to separate these two teams in what felt like a playoff battle.

Lucas Boetsch made several acrobatic saves, finishing the afternoon with 14 saves on 18 Lewiston shots. Lewiston net minder Cooper Millett would finish the game with 12 saves on 14 Camden Hills shots.

Lewiston finished the game with seven corner kicks, Camden Hills finished with four corner kicks.

We dug ourselves a hole in the first half today but showed a lot of strength and character in the second half.

The boys never gave up and really played well together to finish out the game. In the first half we played a little too hurried offensively, the second half we played the way we are capable of, played our game and the result speaks for itself. I couldn't be more proud of this group, they continue to rise to the occasion and we are growing week to week.

Next week we face two tough opponents in Cony and Edward Little and we'll need every bit of effort that we expended today, it should be a blast!
