Thu, 09/07/2017 - 10:00am

ROCKLAND – On September 22-24, Rockland Shambhala will host Shastri Nick Kranz of the Boston Shambhala Meditation Center for an engaging and timely weekend program, Social Meditation Training. Participants will learn how to bring authenticity, fearlessness, and meditative awareness into everyday life. The training, which takes place at 16 School Street in Rockland, begins Friday evening and continues all day Saturday and Sunday. It is by donation, and everyone is welcome.

Over the course of the weekend, participants will immerse in Social Meditation through talks, instruction, practice, and experiential exercises. Kranz defines Social Meditation as a group practice that fosters a culture of authenticity and nowness. It is a practice of bringing meditative awareness into social interactions. It is a practice for fostering good society in these challenging times. The training offers support for how to bring the practices into day-to-day life, as individuals and leaders in the community.

Shastri Nick Kranz is a senior Buddhist teacher and leader in cultural transformation. He developed the timely and dynamic practice of Social Meditation under the mentorship of Acharya Adam Lobel. Kranz is interested in the intersection of social entrepreneurship, awakened intentional community, and collaborative right livelihood. He has worked with Youth Leadership development in the Shambhala Buddhist community for the last decade. Kranz was appointed Shastri (senior Buddhist teacher) by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2013.

Rockland Shambhala is affiliated with the Brunswick-Portland Shambhala Meditation Center, as well as Shambhala International, a nonprofit organization with more than 200 Shambhala Meditation Centers worldwide. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist master, founded Shambhala in the United States in 1970.
