WINDSOR — Sandra L. Kaler, 61, died unexpectedly Oct. 11, 2014, in South Thomaston.

Born in Rockland on Aug. 26, 1953, she was the daughter of Dorothy Conant. She was educated locally.

For many years Sandra worked in the dietary department at Pen Bay Medical Center.

For more than 15 years she was married to Esmond Kaler. Together they spent many years as caretakers for Beaver Lodge. Her daughter said they took great pride in their work and had countless hours of fun camping there.

Sandra was an animal lover. Most recently she adored her dog, Mia, however she has owned and loved a variety of animals over the years, including chickens, ducks, geese, and even a goat.

Sandra was predeceased by her husband, Esmond, in 2013. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy E. Payson of South Thomaston; her sons, James Houghton of Windsor and Augustus “Gus” Wellman Jr., both of Windsor; her daughters, Angel Hunt of Sidney and Lillian Wellman of New York; her brothers, Daryl and David Waters, both of South Thomaston; a sister, Toiney Waters of Byron; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sandra's family will conduct a graveside service on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Sterling Cemetery in Warren.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
