ROCKLAND — A Rockport man remains in the Knox County Jail after he was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his former boss who had fired him that same day.

Adam Dodge, 30, was arrested June 13 by Rockport Police who charged him with aggravated assault and criminal threatening.

Dodge made his initial court appearance in Knox County Unified Court June 14. At the hearing, Judge Susan Sparaco set his bail at $1,500 cash.

According to the affidavit, filed in court by Rockport Police Officer Robbie Shaw, officers responded to a call at a Rockport home where the victim was allegedly assaulted by Dodge. A friend of the victim told police that Dodge had come to their home and started an argument. The victim had fired Dodge that morning.

The man said that he was sitting in a chair when Dodge allegedly hit him with a large metal bracket. Police noted in their report that the victim had a cut, about an inch long, at the corner of his eye.

After the alleged attack, Dodge then fled from the home on foot. Sgt. Dan Brown and Officer Tim Davis of the Camden Police Department, assisted with the search for Dodge around the area of Park and Meadow streets. They were unsuccessful with locating the suspect, according to the document.

Shaw was able to reach Dodge by telephone since the suspect had called the Knox Regional Communications Center twice after he left the victim’s home. The officer met Dodge at his residence.

Dodge told police that the victim had started the altercation with the metal bracket in his hand. He said the victim was injured as he grabbed the victim’s arm to wrestle him to the ground, according to the affidavit.

Shaw arrested Dodge for the assault. He then allegedly made threats that he would assault the officer so he was also charged with criminal threatening.

Dodge will appear in court again on July 20.
