ROCKLAND — A Rockland woman was arrested last week for allegedly breaking her neighbor’s apartment window with a baseball bat and yelling a racial slur while the victim’s young child was nearby.

Michelle L. Gagne, 49, was arrested June 13 by Rockland Police and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and criminal mischief.

Gagne made her initial appearance in Knox County Unified Court before Judge Susan Sparaco June 14. At the hearing, her bail was set at $2,500 cash. Gagne was later released from jail.

According to the affidavit, filed in court by Rockland Police Officer John Bagley, the property manager of the apartment residence on Rankin Street told police that he saw Gagne with the baseball bat and witnessed her break the window of the residence next door. She then returned to her apartment after the incident, according to the document.

The victim told police that her toddler age son was downstairs when the window was broken. She also reported that Gagne yelled out a racial slur. The victim said that she has been having problems with Gagne for a while, according to the affidavit.

Police reported that after Gagne went back to her apartment they made several attempts to speak with her but she would not come outside. After Gagne refused their requests, police obtained an arrest warrant from the court and entered the apartment and arrested her.

Gagne was transported to the Knox County Jail where she was later released.

She will appear in court again on July 20.
