Rockland seeks election clerks to help Nov. 4

Tue, 10/14/2014 - 9:45pm

Registered Rockland voters are needed to work as election clerks at the Rockland Recreation Center on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and during future city elections.

“Being an election clerk is a great way to be part of the political process and be involved in the community without being political,” according to Appointed Election Warden Teisha Hufnagel.

The city relies on approximately 40 dedicated citizens to conduct elections.  Available shifts run from 7.30 a.m. to noon; 11.45 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 3.45 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and a final shift counting the ballots.

Election clerks are responsible for checking voters in, distributing ballots, monitoring the voting machines, and other related activities. A modest stipend is provided, as well as food.

    Requirements for election workers:

*Must be over the age of 18 (exception: student workers must be over 17)

    *Must be registered to vote

*Must be a resident of Rockland

Interested residents are asked to contact  Hufnagel, wardenteisha@gmail.com. Include the following information: preferred shift time(s), name, address, phone number, and party affiliation (or unenrolled).
