On Nov. 16, at approximately 1 a.m., Rockland Police Sergeant Andrew Redden and Officer Michael Rolerson were on patrol when they observed a vehicle parked on the Rockland Public Landing, behind the Rockland Harbor Masters Office.  The officers parked their police cruiser some distance away and approached the vehicle on foot, according to a news release from the Rockland Police Department.

As they got close to the vehicle, the officers observed that it was occupied by two males and a female, the release said. The officers also said they detected the odor of burnt marijuana.  The officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and through the course of their investigation determined that the female, Emily Vitale, 19, of Rockland was currently on probation.

After further investigation, officers discovered that Vitale was in possession of 94 Oxycodone tablets of assorted milligrams.  Vitale was arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail where she was charged with probation violation and Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs because she was in a clearly posted Drug Free Zone.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
