ROCKLAND – A Searsmont man is accused of allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from Home Depot during the nine months he was employed at the store.

Kenneth Cox, 45, of Searsmont, was issued a summons by Rockland Police Detective Joel Neal for theft by deception and two counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to court documents.

Court documents further state that Cox allegedly stole more than $1,000 of store credit and $10,000 from Home Depot between April 2014 and January 2015.

Cox made an initial court appearance on June 22 and was released on personal recognizance bail. This type of bail requires that a defendant sign a written promise to appear in court as required without posting a cash bail. All other aspects of bond remain the same.

As part of his personal recognizance bail conditions, Cox cannot return to Home Depot.

Cox will make his next court appearance in August.
