Rockland Police Department promotes officers to supervisor, detective ranks

    On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, the Rockland Police Department promoted several officers to fill voids within the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division. A number of these vacancies were the
    result of recent retirements.

    Detective Joel Neal has been assigned to the rank of Detective Sergeant and will oversee operations within the Criminal Investigation Division. Det/Sgt. Neal has been with the police department for 19
    years and has spent the last two years as a detective in the Criminal Investigation Division. Sgt. Neal also spent a combined 30 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.

    Officer Andrew Redden has been Assigned to the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division, and will oversee patrol operations of an evening shift. Sgt. Redden has been with the police department for 9
    years and has served exclusively in the Patrol Division. Sgt. Redden is a Field Training Officer and has been responsible for training new officers.

    Officer Scott Solorzano has been assigned the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division and will also oversee patrol operations of an evening shift. Sgt. Solorzano has been with the police department for
    9 years and has served exclusively in the Patrol Division. Sgt. Solorzano is a Field Training Officer and has been responsible for training new officers.

    Officer Alex Gaylor has been assigned the rank of Detective.in the Criminal Investigations Division. Det. Gaylor's primary responsibility will be the investigation of serious crimes that have been committed in Rockland. Det. Gaylor has been with the police department for 3 years and prior to that was a certified Police Officer in Vermont where he had worked for 3 years for the Town of Brandon.

    A press release issued by the RPD stated that all of these officers have distinguished themselves while working for the Rockland Police Department. Their dedication to the community, the city and the department are unquestionable. These officers have set the standard for the Rockland Police Department and what is expected from its staff. The department has absolute confidence in their abilities to successfully manage their new assignments.
