Rockland holds informational meeting on $10.4 million sewer improvement bond

Tue, 10/25/2016 - 1:00pm

Rockland is holding a public information meeting Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at the City Hall to outline the current condition of the city’s aging sewer system and wastewater treatment facility and introduce a proposed plan to make necessary improvements that will not result in an increase to sewer fees and property taxes, according to city officials.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide detailed information regarding capital improvement financing, history of the system construction and use, results of recent sewer system inspections, environmental regulatory requirements and how the proposed improvements will benefit Rockland residents and the health of Rockland Harbor.

City and engineering staff will be available to answer questions from community members.  All residents are encouraged to attend the Oct. 25 in preparation for a vote on the November ballot that includes approval to borrow $10.4M for sewer improvements.

Visit the city’s website to view the presentation and submit questions regarding the proposed improvements.
