ROCKLAND — Jeraimie Finnemore, owner of Big Bob's Big Dawgs, went before the Rockland Planning Commission Thursday, May 17, seeking approval to place a food truck at the former Wasses Hot Dogs stand at 195 Park Street.

The application passed by the commission at a vote of  5-0. Finnemore said he would like to have the truck set up and open by next weekend.

Finnemore explained that he and his brother, Brandon, operate Athen's Pizza, in Thomaston, and that his brother would be taking over the operations of the pizzeria while he concentrated on the food truck. Finnemore told the board he would operate the truck eight months out of the year.

Finnemore said the truck came from the Athen’s Pizza landlord.

"Our landlord had this lunch wagon he was trying to sell and we thought why not try and expand," said Finnemore.

Finnemore said the menu will be simple lunch fare.

“We'll have multiple size hot dogs, the largest being 11 inches," he said. "They will include mild Italian style sausage and pulled pork.”

In addition, Big Dawgs will offer chips and soda to purchase.

Finnemore said he found the Rockland Planning Board easy to work with.

"It was a lot, but a lot less then I thought it would be," said Finnemore. "My brother dealt with these issues in Thomaston and this was all new to me. It went very smooth and I have no complaints. Rockland worked with me and John Root is very good at what he does."

Big Bob's Big Dawgs has been traveling around doing different events for two years.

"We used the same business model for this site," said Finnemore. " We've done the Fourth of July celebration in Thomaston and Friendship Days. We have experience in running it and we are excited to be able to run it in a more permanent situation."
