Rockland Council to consider leasing library room to nonprofit Broadreach for children’s services

Tue, 09/05/2017 - 4:15pm

The Rockland City Council will convene at 5:30 p.m., Sept. 6, at City Hall for a special meeting to consider authorizing the lease of an unused room at the Rockland Public Library, known as the Teen Scene or Mural Room.

That meeting will be followed by an executive session to discuss a personnel matter.

After that, the Council will meet in open session to set its Sept. 11 agenda.

The lease to the nonprofit Broadreach, a family and community services organization, specifies a 280-square foot room on the library’s ground floor. The lease would be for one year, and automatically renewed, unless a notice to terminate is submitted 30 days prior.

Broadreach wants to use the room for its Community Hub for their Knox County Community Partnerships for Protecting Children program (hereinafter referred to as "CPPC").

The lease would be for $300 a month.
