SPRUCE HEAD, MAINE — Robert Evans Warren, 92, died Oct. 20, 2014, at his home. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on March 10, 1922, he was the son of Glenn Barton and Gertrude Sauer Warren. He was the husband of Nancy Price Warren and the late Ruth Edwards Warren, who died May 29, 1998.

He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a lieutenant in General Patton's Third Army during World War II.

Following his military service, Mr. Warren spent most of his career with General Electric Company as an aircraft engine designer and manager. He was awarded several patents in jet engine design.

With his family he lived in Albany, N.Y., Plainville, Conn., Indian Hill, Ohio, and Marblehead, Mass. In Marblehead, he continued his love of the sea, sailing and racing several one-design boats with family and dear friends.

Upon retirement he and Ruthie built a home on Rackliff Island. They cruised their BI 40 Noel to the Bahamas, spending 15 winters there, mostly in Hopetown.

Mr. Warren was a long-time member of the Corinthian Yacht Club. He also served on the board of directors of the Pleon Yacht Club, both in Marblehead.

In later years, he and Nancy dedicated their time, energy and resources to the Owls Head Transportation Museum, where he served on the board of trustees.

Mr. Warren was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Ruthie; and a brother, David Barton Warren, this past summer. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Spruce Head; two daughters, Sally Voegeli and her husband, Dr. Henry Voegeli, of Bethany, Conn., and Candice Warren of Cape Elizabeth; his son, Peter and his wife, Pamela Warren, of Avon, Colo.; Nancy's daughter, Laura Nevins and her husband, Gary, of South Dartmouth, Mass.; Nancy's son, David Campbell and his wife, Ann, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Mr. Warren's life will be announced next spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Owls Head Transportation Museum, P.O. Box 277, Owls Head, ME 04854.
