TENANTS HARBOR - Robert Anthony “Bob” Dembinski, 76, passed away on Dec. 20, 2016, in his Tenants Harbor home.

He was predeceased by his parents, Julian B. and Helen F. (Bugay) Dembinski.

Bob was born in Trenton, N.J., and then relocated to Hamilton Township.

He attended the Hamilton Square Grammar School, graduated with the Hamilton High School Class of 1958 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert C. Dembinski of Massachusetts; and a longtime companion, Donna Jones of Norfolk, Mass.

Bob initially worked for DeLaval R&D Department, writing engineering computer applications in FORTRAN.

For several decades he was proudly employed by Honeywell Information Systems (later renamed Honeywell Bull) in Massachusetts, mainly doing computer language compiler development and support. His final title was senior staff analyst.

He also worked about three years at Stream International Incorporated, providing customer support for Microsoft Word and Excel products.

During his working years, he lived in Medway and Norfolk, Mass.

He volunteered as a video camera operator with Norfolk Community Television. There he created several cooking videos, served as treasurer and was elected Volunteer of the Year several times.

After full retirement, he relocated to Tenants Harbor, where he spent his time enjoying life, “the way life should be.”

He was a kind, fair and decent gentle man. Bob was proud of his Polish ancestry and was the 1958 recipient of The Polish Arts Club of Trenton scholarship.

He was a Star Trek enthusiast and met Leonard Nimoy, the actor who portrayed Mr. Spock.

He kept in touch with his Hamilton High School classmates, attended reunions every five years, and created a website for the Class of 1958.

He had a gift of using technology, and enjoyed cooking, baking from scratch, woodworking, being a handyman, reading mystery novels, visits from the American woodcock, also known as the timberdoodle bird, in the spring, nighttime sky events, and chatting with neighbors.

At Bob's request, there was no viewing, no wake, no funeral service, and no specific location for burying his ashes.
